Abstract

Technological advancements bring significant changes to various aspects of life, including education and child-rearing practices. One prominent form of technological development is the use of gadgets. Gadgets are now an inseparable part of daily life, children. According to a survey by the Indonesian Child Protection Commission, more than 71.3% of school-aged children own gadgets and play with them for a considerable amount of time each day, and 79% of child respondents are allowed to play with gadgets for purposes other than learning. This phenomenon is also beginning to be felt in formal educational environments such as Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri (MIN) 9 Hulu Sungai Utara (HSU). Based on initial observations, many students are already accustomed to using gadgets from an early age without adequate parental supervision. This is of particular concern because children of elementary school age are at a crucial phase in the formation of their character, study habits, and social skills. Given the urgency of this issue, concrete efforts are needed to educate students about the dangers of gadget addiction and how to use them wisely. From a cultural factor, a lack of understanding of the limitations of technology use within the family cultural context, where children feel free to use gadgets without considering the long-term consequences, leads to addiction.
