Pengelolaan Sampah Sebagai Upaya Peningkatan Kesadaran Masyarakat Berdasarkan Perda HSU Nomor 16 Tahun 2023

Abstract

Waste management has become a strategic issue in sustainable development due to its significant impact on public health, environmental quality, and ecosystem sustainability. Local governments play a crucial role in formulating and implementing effective and participatory waste management policies. The Government of Hulu Sungai Utara Regency has issued Regional Regulation Number 16 of 2013 on Waste Management as a legal framework for reduce, reuse, and recycle (3R)-based waste management. However, the implementation of this policy still faces challenges, particularly low public awareness and participation at the village level. This community service activity aims to enhance public understanding and awareness in Sungai Janjam Village, Babirik District, through policy socialization. The methods applied include socialization, participatory education, group discussions, and waste sorting simulations. The results indicate an improvement in community knowledge regarding waste management, the importance of waste sorting, and active participation in maintaining environmental cleanliness. This activity is expected to strengthen policy implementation effectiveness and encourage sustainable behavioral change
